Held Still

So many straight jackets tied tightly around who we
really are

Smiles mask invisible frowns

Lonely hearts beat lonely beats waiting to be found

Wishing they could scream out set me free

Silence being their only sound

Take a chance , untie those strings tied tight

Remove the mask and scream

Breath

Experience what its like to be Free

_____________________________

I wrote this piece for the ones holding back , hiding , wishing dreaming

We can always say time passed us by , what could of been will never be

We can walk away , regret , keep quiet

Its a safe place in the dark , in the place where

we cant be hurt or seen

Don't hold your heart still , a heart is meant to beat

Take a chance , it might just be destiny you meet Cynthia

Mosaic

He is a Mosaic

Sharp in contrast

Shades of bright blue
hazed

Clear and mirrored images
broken bits , heart shaped

Bonded to a strong frame

From a distance plastered pieces
of who he appears to be

Only an illusion

Close examination
reveals he is ever changing

being shaped

smoothed, Growing

filling others rooms with light

my delight

I LOVE HIM

He is valuable to me

A collectors prize

I can only hope I appear similar
in his heart
in his eyes

Shout

Three men stand on the
street corner

Brick Buildings , broken
show their age

Graffiti ads talk of a new day

fliers in the wind tattered sway

Murals brightly painted with
loud voices scream

a man sleeping back up against the plaster dreams

Black Door
White Letters Bold
PRINT SAY
DEATH TO THE KKK

Market Street / Belle Vista , Philly

Hangin at a corner cafe

Hot breezy day

Brick buildings dressed in
murals and graffiti tags

Canopies covering fresh fruit
and vegetable stands sway

Tattoo sleeves , artist palette calves

Sharing coffee , stories , smiles, space

Illumination of emotions on each face

International tongues , accents sing through
speech spoken all around

City Workers in big trucks pass by
rattling the ground

cars circle the block trying to find somewhere to
parallel park

Dogs sit with their owners , waging tails , never bark
