Digital Love

I am having a romance
 with my celluar phone

Its always on my mind

I like to keep it close
I can not keep my eyes off it 
This really is sublime

I wait to hear it sing 
the songs I like to hear

And I  even  like to talk to it 
as I hold it to my ear

My fingers like to caress it 
sending messages through its spine

Hoping to recieve from it 
an enjoyable   reply

Yes I am having a romance 
with my cellular phone

I never go without it 
not even when I am at  home

I wrote this after I received and fell in love with my first smart phone. Its been a few years since I felt that way. I have learned that so many wonderful things , people , life are all around me daily and looking at my phone screen means missing out on other things that are much more important. I still enjoy my smart phone and all its gizmos. I just try and not let it consume me. Cynthia

I have always wanted to be a writer, so I write, I have always wanted to work with wild life , so I volunteered for 12 years at a local zoo and wildlife rehab/refuge. There are so many things I want to try , I have so many dreams. Don't we all.  Life is one big "WHAT IF" and I know that with alittle faith , it can be "WHY NOT". Don't let your dreams fade away. My grandfather once told me "Theres nothing you can't do, but a lot of people will tell you otherwise."  I miss him alot.  Cynthia

Legal Discrimination

Erick has had the police called on him at a park for handing out free bagels , they told him if he returned to Calhoun Park he would be arrested for trespassing, mean while the family that called the police was cooking hamburgers and hotdogs and handing them out for free, Ericks chickens were taken recently , 5 little baby chicks in a big box with water and food , the officer said if Erick said they were his he would charge him with animal cruelty, so he took them to P.A.W.S which is known for killing animals due to limited space and funds, then when his truck broke down near a ball park in Destin the police were called saying a panhandler was bothering the families, the policeman came and was at first upset when he found Erick asleep in his truck apparently exhausted from Panhandling, When Erick awoke and was told he was going to be arrested for trespassing he was like why? the officer said he was bothering people by panhandling , when Erick said he wasn't the officer sure to catch him in a lie asked some witnesses and they said no , he was just scary looking and didn't want their kids scared. This is discrimination. This is discrimination at its worst. I have called and spoke to the police about each incident , we are making a documentary . I also explained how horrible it was that Erick was being basically picked on by people who didn't like the way he looked and they agreed but when a call is placed they have to go out to that call. I called the policeman about the chicks and he claimed he only asked if they were Ericks(who else's would they be) and Erick said no so he said ok Im going to take them to PAWS.

This goes out to all those parents who want to teach their children to discriminate instead of be kind to the less fortunate by calling the police on people who look different than them. This is for all the people who work as public servants who use their power to  encourage intolerance instead of loving kindness.

Love is a piece of Granny’s blackberry pie

Love is an unmistakable twinkle in an eye

Love is a listening ear where words are longing

    for someone to hear

Love is freedom a joyous sound

Love is an island in a sea of space and stars spinning

  around

Love is good , love is kind , love is selfless even if

  it knows not why

Blinding Light

There is a great crowd reaching
                                        clamoring
                                                  searching in the dark

Needing enlightenment
    Grabbing hold onto anything that shines into their dim eyes

There is a great crowd prefering to lend out its' mind for
    someone else to think for them

This crowd finds comfort in words spoken with emphasis
      by great orators

Their ears used only to hear
  listening for them isn't a need

Sheep easily led to the slaughter

Be cautious of hands that pat weary heads

 the same hands that fill their own bellies before
   bed

Craving souls of those yearning to see

Blinded by the same light which seemed to be seen
